When researching for the UI art direction for this project, I was inspired by the African rock arts. The arts were created in various mediums although, the one I found fitting the most was using charcoal or colored rocks to paint.

Thus I decided to use charcoal brushes for a number of UI elements such as, buttons, borders, dividers and sliders. For the background, a cave painting scene works well as it helps in keeping the medieval African aesthetic throughout the menus.
